The South West of France is a large and varied area, offering an excellent lifestyle wherever you decide to buy your French home. To The far west you have the rich and lively town of Bordeaux with easy access to the picturesque Arcachon Bassin and Cap Ferret. Further to the South the flatter Landes area and its famous surf villages of Hossegor & Seignosse are also highly sought after by international buyers.
If the Ocean isnn’t your thing you might want to look further inland to charming wine villages such as Saint Emillion where you can purchase chateaux and vineyards if the budget will stretch to it. A slightly more affordable option would be the Dordogne, where stone houses and traditional villages offer excellent value for money.
The same can be said of The Aveyron and Lot departments, which are much less well known, but quintessentially French with a very laid back lifestyle for those wanting to buy a home in the authentic French countryside. The Pyrenees covers a large area from Perpignan and The Mediterranean Sea in The Pyrenees Orientales, across to the Hautes Pyrenees for excellent skiing and higher mountains and finally The Pyrenees Atlantiques which varies from mid mountain ranges across to The Atlantic Coast near Biarritz.
A unique area where you can be close to both the mountains and beaches.
